JAMB Registration (2026): Requirements, Fees and Deadlines

JAMB registration is complete only when the candidate's details, choices, subjects and biometrics have been captured and a valid registration slip has been issued. A profile code or an e-PIN purchase is an earlier step, not proof that the application is finished.

The 2026 UTME exercise is already past as at October 2026. Its published package was ₦7,200 without the optional mock and ₦8,700 with it. The steps below explain the process and the records to prepare; dates and fees for another cycle must come from that cycle's official notice.

JAMB Registration Fees and What They Include

JAMB's 2026 fee statement broke the package into an application fee of ₦3,500, reading text ₦1,000, centre-registration service ₦700, UTME centre charge ₦1,500 and bank charge ₦500. Those components total ₦7,200. The optional mock component added ₦1,500, producing ₦8,700.

UTME without mock₦7,200The included components should not be charged again
UTME with mock₦8,700Includes the additional optional mock component
Direct Entry₦5,700A separate admission route and designated registration process

For personal planning, allow an estimated ₦1,000–₦3,000 for local travel, SMS and incidental copies, depending on what you need. A ₦7,200 package plus a ₦2,000 personal allowance gives a ₦9,200 example. With the mock option, the same allowance produces ₦10,700. Your total may be more or less.

These examples exclude a device, tutoring and a university's later screening charge. Do not buy a second registration package because a payment message is delayed, and ask for an itemised explanation if an operator adds a compulsory charge to the published bundle.

Candidates who selected the optional practice examination can then follow the mock examination arrangements. The mock has its own assignment and slip, separate from the main UTME.

JAMB Registration Requirements

  • Your own correct NIN and identity information.
  • A telephone number retained for the candidate's JAMB communications.
  • The profile code generated or retrieved through the prescribed SMS process.
  • An active personal email account where required for candidate services.
  • The appropriate UTME e-PIN and payment evidence.
  • Correct institution and programme choices, including any university choice-position condition.
  • The correct UTME subjects and the O-Level subjects required for those programmes.
  • Your actual O-Level results, or the awaiting-result status expressly allowed by the current instructions.
  • Personal attendance and the required photograph and biometric capture at an accredited registration point.
  • Compliance with the current cycle's age rule and any formally approved special arrangement.

For the 2026 standard age rule, JAMB's materials referred to being at least 16 by 30 September 2026, with a separately controlled exceptional-candidate route. Do not replace a new cycle's cut-off date with an earlier year's date or assume an exception applies automatically.

How to Register for JAMB

  1. Check course eligibility. Read the IBASS entry and your intended institutions' conditions before selecting subjects.
  2. Confirm identity details. Compare your NIN record with the name and date information you intend to use. Resolve a mismatch through the proper channel.
  3. Obtain the profile code. Use the prescribed NIN message from the candidate's own telephone number and check the returned name.
  4. Choose the application option. Decide between the published UTME packages, including whether you want the optional mock.
  5. Buy the correct e-PIN. Use an authorised payment route and keep the receipt and delivered code.
  6. Attend an accredited CBT registration centre. Take the requested academic and identity details and complete the personal capture process.
  7. Review the application screen. Read the institution, programme, subjects, personal details and result status before approving submission.
  8. Collect the registration slip. Check the newly issued registration number and save the completed record.
  9. Follow later instructions. Upload an eligible awaiting result when available, obtain the examination slip when released and complete institutional screening at the appropriate time.

A family member or operator can help you prepare, but the record must belong to the candidate. Do not use another person's fingerprints or approve details you have not read. JAMB's approved CBT centre information helps distinguish accredited registration points from ordinary computer businesses.

JAMB Registration Number and Other Codes

The JAMB registration number identifies the completed candidate registration for the relevant examination. The profile code is obtained earlier, while the e-PIN relates to the purchase of the application document. Keep each labelled with its purpose and cycle.

If you wrote UTME before, do not accidentally use an old registration number for the new application or later screening. Compare the examination year and candidate identity whenever you open a service. A number that retrieves a genuine older record is still wrong for a different year's admission application.

Store the successful payment reference as well as the candidate number. If a problem concerns an undelivered e-PIN, the payment evidence is relevant; if it concerns an examination allocation, the completed registration record is relevant. The right reference helps the responsible office investigate the right stage.

JAMB Registration Slip and Printing

The JAMB registration slip confirms the details recorded at registration. Before leaving the centre, check the name, registration number, institution and programme choices, UTME subjects and any relevant result entries. A missing or incorrect subject is more urgent than a minor print-quality issue.

For JAMB registration slip download, use the authorised registration or candidate-service route applicable to the record. The initial registration process can involve biometric authentication for producing the slip. A manually edited document from an unrelated website is not a replacement.

Keep an original clear copy and a private digital backup if provided. A later examination slip serves a different purpose: it supplies the actual date, time and centre allocation. Do not plan examination travel from the registration slip alone.

JAMB Registration Portal

The JAMB registration portal is part of the Board's official services, but registration is not simply filling any web form from home. The required personal capture belongs at the authorised registration point. A website selling a practice app or a university's screening form is not the JAMB registration service.

If the process fails at a centre, identify the stage: e-PIN payment, candidate lookup, biometric capture, choice entry or final submission. Ask the operator to show the actual message and keep the relevant evidence. Creating a second profile or buying another package without diagnosis can complicate the record.

JAMB Registration 2026 Deadline

For JAMB registration 2026 deadline enquiries, distinguish e-PIN vending from the final registration exercise. The published 2026 arrangements gave 26 February for the end of UTME e-PIN vending and 28 February for registration completion. Registration was announced to begin on 26 January.

Those dates are not a rolling annual rule. Direct Entry had a different timetable, and a university's later screening deadline was a separate deadline again. Write each date beside the action it governs instead of combining every admission task under the phrase JAMB deadline.

A lesson programme or software product labelled for the next year does not establish that JAMB has begun selling the next application documents. Prepare identity and course choices early, then use the Board's published calendar for the actual registration window.

A Final Review Before the Centre Submits

Ask to read the completed screen yourself. Compare the first-choice institution and full course title with the selection you prepared. Then check every UTME subject individually. A course can look correct while one subject in its combination is wrong, so reviewing the course name alone is insufficient.

Next compare your personal details with the identity record and confirm the result status. If you supplied an available result, verify the subjects and grades that were entered. If an awaiting result is permitted, check how that status is recorded and note the later upload action you must complete. Do not approve a guessed result just to finish registration quickly.

Finally, inspect the issued slip before leaving. If a field is unclear or incorrect, ask the operator to identify the official correction route while the record is open and the facts are fresh. Keep a note of the problem and any reference given. This short review is more useful than assuming that every mistake can be corrected cheaply after a school's application deadline.

After Registration

Build the study plan around your registered subjects and the current syllabus. The JAMB preparation guide provides a practical revision framework, while the syllabus guide helps organise topic coverage.

Keep checking official instructions for the examination-slip release and any candidate-specific update. If you registered with an awaiting result, plan to upload the actual result through the authorised route when it becomes available and within the institution's deadline. Completing the examination alone does not complete the admission application.

Finally, retain the registration slip, payment receipt and candidate communications together. If a mistake appears later, state exactly which field is wrong and use the official correction process where available. An operator's assurance that a detail “will not matter” should not replace an accurate candidate record.
