JAMB Profile Code (2026): How to Generate, Retrieve and Fix SMS Errors

Your JAMB profile code links the candidate identity used for registration to the application process. It is not the same as an e-PIN, a registration number or an email password. Obtain or retrieve your own code first, check the returned name, and keep the telephone number used for the process available.

JAMB's published SMS instruction is to send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019. The response provides the profile code and the name associated with the identity record. Do not use another person's NIN to get past an error.

How to Generate a JAMB Profile Code

  1. Confirm that you have your own correct NIN and that its identity details are accurate.
  2. Use the telephone number you intend to retain for JAMB communications. A number already tied to another candidate is not a shared family registration tool.
  3. Ensure that the SIM has ordinary airtime. JAMB's support guidance says to have at least ₦50; a data bundle alone is not SMS credit.
  4. Open the phone's normal SMS application and type NIN followed by one space and the 11-digit number.
  5. Send the message to 55019 or 66019. Check the destination and number carefully before sending.
  6. Read the reply and confirm the returned name. Do not proceed with an identity mismatch simply because a code arrived.
  7. Save the response privately and keep a separate note of the code and registered telephone number.
  8. Use the code for the next official registration step. Buying an e-PIN and completing registration are separate actions.

JAMB profile code generation should be performed for the actual candidate. Do not give a sibling's identity number to an operator or assume that a successful SMS means the candidate has already registered for UTME.

JAMB Profile Code Retrieval

If you previously obtained a code, JAMB's FAQ instructs candidates to send RESEND to 55019 or 66019 from the same registered telephone number. This is a retrieval or refresh step, not an instruction to create a different candidate identity.

  1. Locate the SIM used for the earlier JAMB profile and confirm that it is still active.
  2. Check ordinary airtime and the phone's ability to send a normal SMS.
  3. Send RESEND to one of the stated JAMB short codes.
  4. Read the response and compare the returned identity with your own records.
  5. If the old SIM is lost, seek the proper SIM-recovery or JAMB support route rather than using someone else's profile.

JAMB profile code retrieval is most straightforward when you have kept the original telephone number. Store the successful message outside the phone as well, so that losing a handset does not mean losing every reference connected to the application.

Next, prepare the documents and payment for JAMB registration. Receiving the code is an early identity step; it does not mean the examination application has been submitted.

JAMB Profile Code Cost

JAMB's revised service schedule lists profile creation as free, while the SMS route requires airtime. The support checklist specifies at least ₦50 ordinary airtime. That does not mean that every network, retry or assisted service has a single guaranteed total cost.

ItemCost referenceImportant distinction
Profile creation service₦0 in JAMB's published scheduleDifferent from an e-PIN purchase
Airtime for the SMS routeAt least ₦50 in support guidanceUse ordinary airtime, not only data
Initial SMS budget₦100–₦200 estimated allowanceA small planning reserve, not a reason for repeated blind retries

For example, setting aside ₦150 airtime gives a small reserve for the process, but the amount actually used may be more or less. A private helper's charge is not a mandatory JAMB profile-creation fee. If an error repeats, investigate it before spending the whole reserve on identical messages.

The code also does not include the later registration package. The approved CBT centre guide explains where the actual registration process belongs; a person who helps with an SMS does not automatically operate an accredited registration centre.

Requirements Before You Send the SMS

  • Your own correct 11-digit NIN.
  • A working SIM associated with the candidate's JAMB record or intended registration.
  • Ordinary airtime sufficient for the SMS process.
  • A phone that can send SMS to the official short codes.
  • The exact message format, including the space after NIN.
  • Access to the response so that the returned name can be checked.
  • A private record of the successful code and telephone number.
  • The previous code and registration information, if resolving an existing profile rather than starting a new candidate record.

Do not type the number from memory when the original record is available. Compare all 11 digits, and remove accidental punctuation or extra explanatory words from the message. A screenshot of the error can help a support enquiry, but it should not be posted publicly with your identity details exposed.

JAMB Profile Code Login

JAMB profile code login is a common search phrase, but the code itself is not a general password for every JAMB service. Candidate-account sign-in uses the credentials requested by the official account page. An e-PIN purchases the application document, while the registration number identifies a completed examination registration.

Keep the four items labelled separately: profile code, e-PIN, registration number and account email. A learner who calls all four a “JAMB PIN” can send the wrong item to a centre or mistake a login failure for a missing code.

JAMB Profile Code Login With Registration Number

The search JAMB profile code login with registration number combines identifiers from different stages. If the official page asks for an email and password, the registration number will not replace them. If a specific lookup accepts a registration number, use that field for that service rather than treating it as universal account access.

JAMB Profile Code Login Gmail

JAMB profile code login Gmail does not describe a special Google service. Gmail is one possible email provider for the candidate account. The profile-code SMS goes through the registered telephone number, and your Gmail password should not be given to an operator merely to send that SMS.

Why a JAMB Profile Code Is Not Coming

Read the exact response first. A message about the NIN record differs from a network failure, insufficient airtime or a telephone number already associated with a candidate. Repeating the same request without identifying the problem can spend money without changing the outcome.

  1. Check the NIN length, message format and destination short code.
  2. Confirm that the SIM has ordinary airtime and can send SMS.
  3. If a code existed previously, use the published retrieval route from the original number.
  4. If the response concerns an identity record, compare it with your NIN details and use the appropriate NIMC or JAMB support channel.
  5. If the issue remains unresolved, raise a JAMB support enquiry with the error wording and relevant candidate references.

Do not send dozens of requests through different people's phones. It becomes harder to identify the correct registered number, and another person's identity must not be used to obtain a result. Preserve the error message and ask a focused question about it.

Matching the Error to the Next Action

Consider two different situations. A first-time candidate may have typed the NIN incorrectly and received a record error. The next action is to compare the digits and identity record. A returning candidate may have a valid earlier code but be sending a fresh request from a different telephone number. That case requires checking the original registered line and the retrieval process.

Neither situation is helped by immediately paying for a new application. A profile-code problem occurs before or alongside particular registration stages, and the remedy depends on the message. Write down what you sent, which number sent it, which short code received it and what came back. Keep that note private and use it when raising a support enquiry.

If someone assists you, ask them to explain the proposed action before it is taken. A useful explanation identifies the actual error and the official route for resolving it. A promise that one paid “special code” works for every candidate should not replace that check. Once the legitimate response arrives, verify the returned name and keep the successful message, not just the operator's assurance.

What to Do After Receiving the Profile Code

Check the returned name before purchasing an e-PIN. A payment should proceed under the correct candidate identity and the correct application option. Keep the purchase receipt and the message carrying the e-PIN, then attend the authorised registration point with the required documents.

During registration, review the institution, course and subject combination. Use the syllabus guide for study planning after the combination has been confirmed; having a profile code does not settle course eligibility.

After registration, keep the printed e-registration slip and identify the newly issued registration number. Store that document with the earlier messages. This creates a clear chain from identity and profile creation to payment and completed registration, which is useful if a later enquiry needs evidence of the stage reached.
