JAMB Direct Entry is an admission route for applicants presenting an accepted qualification beyond O-Level, such as a relevant diploma, NCE or advanced-level result. Eligibility depends on the university and programme. Owning a diploma does not automatically qualify you for every course or guarantee a particular entry level.
For the 2026 exercise, JAMB's published package was ₦5,700. The original advertised closing date was 25 April, and a subsequent May bulletin reported an extension of application-document sales to 8 May 2026. Those dates are past as at October 2026; an old form announcement should not be presented as a newly opened exercise.
JAMB Direct Entry Requirements
- The O-Level subjects and credits required for the intended university course, including the permitted number of sittings.
- A relevant advanced qualification expressly accepted for that programme, with the required subjects and grades.
- The awarding institution's correct name, graduation year and registration or matriculation number.
- The original certificate, statement of results or other qualification evidence allowed by the current rules.
- Any verification or transcript arrangement required by JAMB and the receiving university.
- Your own NIN, JAMB profile code and candidate contact details.
- The correct Direct Entry application document and completed registration record.
- The institution and course in the choice position required by the university.
- Completion of the institution's separate screening or application process by its stated deadline.
- Compliance with the applicable age and identity conditions for the admission cycle.
Read qualification requirements at course level. A university may accept an ND in a relevant discipline for one programme but not for another. An NCE combination, IJMB subject set or HND grade must be assessed against the particular entry. Do not use a general list of universities accepting a qualification as proof that Medicine, Law or another specialist course accepts it.

JAMB Direct Entry Form and Fees
The JAMB Direct Entry form belongs to the Board's application process. JAMB's March 2026 statement listed the DE package at ₦5,700. Do not add a second ₦700 registration charge to that package simply because the breakdown includes a centre-registration component.
The university's screening and transcript costs are separate. For example, FUNAAB's 2026/2027 screening costs ₦2,000, with ₦3,000 for portal access, excluding processing fees. That gives a ₦5,000 institutional example, not a nationwide charge for every university.
Combining the ₦5,700 JAMB package with that ₦5,000 example gives ₦10,700 before payment-processing, transcript and travel costs. If you add an estimated ₦8,000 transcript-and-document allowance and ₦2,000 transport, the worked preparation total is ₦20,700. Those additional allowances are assumptions; the amount may be more or less, especially when a transcript must be dispatched from another town.
Get an itemised statement for any qualification-verification payment. Do not assume an unverified agent's “all-inclusive DE package” is JAMB's official price. Keep the Board's fee, institutional application charge, transcript expense and optional assistance separate in your budget.
How to Register for JAMB Direct Entry
- Check the university's current DE requirement for the precise course and qualification you hold.
- Confirm the correct application cycle and official registration window. For 2026, JAMB specified its State and Zonal Offices for the DE exercise.
- Obtain or retrieve your own profile code through the prescribed NIN and telephone-number process.
- Buy the correct DE application document through an authorised payment route and retain the receipt and e-PIN message.
- Attend the registration point designated for DE with the academic and identity documents requested.
- Provide the qualification, awarding institution, graduation and matriculation details accurately, and complete the required identity and biometric process.
- Review the university, course and academic entries before confirming submission.
- Collect and check the registration slip. Keep the issued registration number separate from the profile code and e-PIN.
- Arrange qualification verification and any official transcript dispatch requested.
- Complete the university's own screening application and monitor the resulting admission record through the prescribed channels.
Purchasing an e-PIN is not the end of registration, and completing JAMB registration is not the end of the university application. Keep a checklist for both processes so that a transcript or institutional deadline is not overlooked.
JAMB Direct Entry Portal and Login
The JAMB Direct Entry portal should be reached through the Board's official website. A page advertising a university's DE screening form is a separate institutional service, even if it asks for the JAMB registration number.
For JAMB Direct Entry portal login, use the details requested by the official candidate-service page. Do not assume that your university portal password is your e-Facility password. Label the accounts and retain the registration evidence for each stage.
If a qualification record is missing or awaiting verification, ask which institution or body must supply it. Re-uploading an unofficial screenshot does not replace an official transcript where direct dispatch is required.
Transcript and Qualification Verification
Start the transcript request early enough for the receiving institution's deadline. Confirm the destination, candidate references and whether the institution wants an electronic submission, direct institutional dispatch or another specified channel. Keep the application and dispatch acknowledgements.
FUNAAB's 2026 notice, for example, distinguishes ND/HND/NCE transcripts from the stamped result documentation it requests for A-Level candidates. That is why a generic instruction to “upload your certificate” can be incomplete. Follow the actual category that applies to your qualification.
Check names, result classifications, graduation dates and matriculation numbers across the application. If a record differs, resolve it with the awarding institution rather than changing a scan. A clear verification trail is more useful than an impressive-looking unofficial document.

JAMB Direct Entry Form 2026 Deadline
For JAMB Direct Entry form 2026 deadline searches, distinguish the original advert from a later extension. The initial advert named 25 April, while JAMB's 4 May 2026 bulletin reported that application-document sales had been extended to 8 May 2026.
Those are JAMB-stage dates. A university's screening or transcript deadline is a different deadline and may fall later. Keep each beside the action it governs: buying the document, completing registration, applying to the university and supplying the academic record.
A practice product bearing the next year's label is not an official announcement that JAMB has opened the next DE exercise. Prepare your records in advance, but use the Board's actual new-cycle notice for dates and fees.
JAMB Direct Entry Change of Institution
JAMB Direct Entry change of institution is a separate correction transaction. Before paying for it, confirm that the new university accepts your qualification for the intended programme and that its application window remains open.
JAMB's published course/institution correction reference is ₦2,500, with the applicable assistance charge stated in its schedule. That correction does not automatically submit a new university screening application or send a transcript to a new destination. Complete those additional actions where required.
Keeping Your Applications and Transcript Requests Aligned
Maintain one row for each university you are genuinely considering. Record the accepted qualification, application status, transcript destination and document deadline. If you change institution, update that row and establish whether the earlier transcript request can be redirected or a new request is required.
Keep the receiving university's acknowledgement separate from the awarding institution's dispatch receipt. Dispatch proves that a request progressed at one end; receipt and successful verification are later stages. This distinction helps you ask the right office a precise question when an application remains pending.
Direct Entry Decisions to Settle Early
Does Direct Entry Always Mean 200 Level?
No universal entry level should be assumed. The university decides the level and progression arrangements applicable to the accepted qualification and programme. Check the admission offer rather than relying on the name Direct Entry alone.
Can I Buy Both UTME and DE Forms for the Same Cycle?
Do not obtain duplicate registrations as a workaround. If you already registered for UTME and want a DE route, ask JAMB whether an authorised conversion process is available for your case and cycle. A conversion, where allowed, is different from creating another candidate record.
Will an Eligible Qualification Guarantee Admission?
No. Eligibility is the starting point. Verification, programme capacity, institutional selection and the final admission process still apply. Choose alternatives you actually qualify for and keep their application and transcript deadlines separate.
