UNILAG Cut Off Mark (2026): Merit Scores and Catchment Tables

At the University of Lagos, the score that allowed a candidate to register for screening is different from the figure used to compare candidates for a particular programme. Knowing which stage a number belongs to prevents a common and costly misunderstanding.

This UNILAG cut off mark guide sets out the general screening floor and the 2026/2027 course selection table. It keeps merit and each catchment-state column visible so that a single number is not mistaken for the whole admission rule.

General UNILAG Cut Off Mark for Screening

The university’s 2026/2027 screening notice required first-choice candidates to have at least 200 in UTME. It also required five relevant O Level credits at one sitting, including English Language and Mathematics. That UTME floor was an eligibility condition for applying to the screening exercise.

The general UNILAG cut off mark is therefore not a promise of admission into Medicine, Law, Engineering or any other programme. Applicants still need the right subjects, the required school results, participation in the applicable screening process and a valid application record.

The notice also set an age condition of sixteen by 30 September 2026. Its result-upload requirement covered JAMB CAPS and the UNILAG application portal by 14 August 2026. These belong to the stated admission cycle; they should not be interpreted as a newly opened registration window.

Merit and Catchment Scores Explained

The departmental release contains a merit column and six catchment-state columns: Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo. Read the programme and the applicable admission category together. A candidate should not pick whichever state happens to show the lowest figure.

The UNILAG cut off mark table includes NIL entries. NIL is retained exactly because it is not a score of zero. It does not establish that a candidate can enter the programme without a qualifying result, nor should it be replaced with a guessed figure.

These departmental numbers are selection scores rather than raw UTME totals out of 400. Use the result and category attached to your actual application. Do not compare a raw UTME total directly with a departmental value such as 73.00 or 83.425.

Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Law

Medicine and Surgery has a merit figure of 83.425. Its catchment entries range across the six stated columns, so an applicant should use the actual state value rather than an informal claim that all catchment candidates have one common score.

The UNILAG cut off mark for Nursing Sciences is 77.925 under merit, while Law has a merit figure of 79.125. Pharmacy has a separate course row and should not be confused with Pharmacology in Basic Medical Sciences. Similar names do not establish the same professional qualification or threshold.

Compare the correct programme before judging your position. Anatomy, Physiology, Dentistry, Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Sciences and Pharmacy are distinct courses. An applicant should understand the qualification and training route before agreeing to any alternative offer.

Computing, Engineering and Statistics

Computer Science has a merit figure of 82.05. Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Software Engineering appear separately in the computing faculty table. The UNILAG cut off mark for one computing programme should not be transferred to another because the courses share a field.

Civil and Environmental Engineering is listed separately from Mechanical Engineering and the other engineering programmes. Check the exact title in your application. The departmental number does not remove Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or any other requirement attached to the programme.

Statistics has a merit figure of 70.45. Applicants should also check its institution-specific subject and O Level conditions, especially where a requirement differs from the broad national brochure entry. A score comparison is useful only when the application is academically eligible for that exact course.

Comparing a Personal Result Correctly

Suppose a candidate has an official selection score of 79.00 and is comparing the Law merit figure of 79.125. The result is below that specific threshold by 0.125. It should not be rounded up to create an apparent match.

For Computer Science, a candidate using the Lagos catchment column would compare against 73.225, provided that category legitimately applies to the verified record. The candidate cannot switch to Lagos simply because that value is lower than the merit figure.

When checking the UNILAG cut off mark, write down four items: programme, category, official personal result and published threshold. Keeping that small comparison together prevents mistakes caused by cropped screenshots or a table copied without its headings.

Screening Conditions Still Matter

The general notice required participation in the Post UTME aptitude test. A high UTME result alone should not be presented as a replacement for the stated screening process. Candidates should review the record of the actual exercise rather than assume another applicant’s situation applies to them.

Relevant O Level credits also remain important. The one-sitting condition in the university’s notice cannot be replaced with a more flexible rule used by another institution. Subject combinations and specific programme requirements should be checked through the correct admission entry.

What NIL and an Unlisted Score Do Not Tell You

A NIL cell does not give a candidate permission to invent a threshold. It also does not, by itself, explain every administrative reason behind the entry. The safest interpretation is to retain the university’s label and seek clarification for the exact programme and category where needed.

Likewise, do not advertise an unlisted ELDS figure as though it appeared in this table. The release presented here uses merit and the six named catchment states. Additional categories require their own official explanation rather than an assumed percentage reduction.

The UNILAG cut off mark must be read within the published release. If the university later issues a correction or another admission instruction, use that specific announcement. Do not silently replace a NIL cell or change a decimal because an unofficial message seems more favourable.

Next Steps After the Score Check

Check that your institution, programme, name and academic results are accurate in the records used for admission. If a detail is wrong, retain the supporting documents and follow the authorised correction route. Avoid creating conflicting personal records to solve a single error.

Monitor the university’s messages alongside your JAMB CAPS status. An admission table does not tell you whether an individual offer has been issued, accepted or processed. Read the status for your own application and complete any instructed step within its stated period.

Before accepting a proposed course change, review the JAMB brochure for that programme’s subjects and entry route. The UNILAG cut off mark is one part of the decision; the qualification, curriculum and eligibility must also make sense for the candidate.
